Voi, che miraste in terra il mio bel Sole,
Deh fate agli altri che nol vider fede,
Che, come il suo valor ogn’ altro eccede,
Così son le mie pene al mondo sole.
Quanto ei valse, e non men l’ alma si duole,
Chi la sua vita vide, or la mia vede;
Chi quella gloria, or questa pena crede,
Che ’l Ciel senz’ altr’ eguali ambe le vuole.
Ond’ ei m’ appar sovente in sonno, e dice:
Nasce un miracol novo dal tuo danno,
Che spesso in Ciel mi può far men felice.
Più novo è assai, dich’ io, ch’ al breve inganno
D’ un nostro sguardo, che è nel sonno, lice,
Tenermi viva in sì mortal affanno.
